My mom's irises.

A few years ago I was talking to my mom on the phone and she was telling me that she had just thinned her irises and had a wheelbarrow full of bulbs that she didn't know what to do with. I remember saying that I wished there was some way that I could get them, and don't you know, the next week I received a big box from UPS full of iris bulbs, all labeled by color. I was so excited, and Craig and I planted them all over the back yard. They have bloomed beautifully every spring since then, until this year. (I think this picture is from last year.) Now, I don't know if it's because Mom died last August or what, but those flowers did not bloom at all this spring! Weird! I'm sure glad Mom let me enjoy them for as long as I did, and I'm sure glad Craig takes pictures of everything.

I've been thinking a lot about her lately, too. Probably because of memorial day. I'm sure Grandpa has some irises still. You should just get more bulbs from him if yours don't make it. I know Grandma would love for you to have more.
