The Gardners

For anyone who might know Norm and Natalie, I thought you would be happy to learn that Norm was called to be the 1st Counselor in the Stake Presidency this past weekend. We are so excited for them and for the lucky people in their stake! To me, they are such great examples of "faith, family, friends". Love you guys!

Was that gunshots?

I was awakened this morning at 4:14 to the sound of gunshots...I thought. I sat up and tried to figure out if I was dreaming or if it was real. I realized that Craig was not in bed; he had gone running. Then next thing I knew, my door opened and Tara was standing there asking if I had heard the noise. We sat there for a minute staring at each other, then I decided to call 911. After reporting what we had heard, I started worrying about Craig. The funny thing is, I don't worry much about him when he's at work. I know he's careful and always on guard. But my mind started picturing him all alone, running, with no protection...and I panicked. Tara tried to call him on his cell phone, but it started buzzing on the bathroom counter, so I knew he didn't have it with him. I finally sent Tara back to bed and I sat on the edge of the bed for the next 45 minutes hoping and praying that Craig would come home. When the front door opened at about 5:00, I burst into tears and thanked my Heavenly Father for bringing him home safely. Craig was sorry he worried me, but he had to laugh as he told me that he was running right by the TRUCK that had BACKFIRED! It scared him so bad that he ran into a light pole and tripped. We were both relieved that it was just a truck, but I told him he better take his phone from now on! I learned from this experience that I need to trust in the Holy Ghost more. The whole time, I didn't get the feeling that things were really bad, but I let my imagination get the best of me. Funny how we are taught the lessons we need to learn.

Wheat Berry Cereal

As I was going through my recipe box yesterday, I found this recipe for Wheat Berry Cereal. I thought it would be fun to try it. You might like it, too.

Wheat Berry Cereal
2 cups whole wheat kernels
4 cups water
Soak wheat kernels in 2 cups of the water for 15 minutes. Drain and rinse kernels. Add soaked kernels and remaining 2 cups water to crock pot and cook on low overnight. Serve with sugar, honey, or syrup and milk.

Well, I made it for breakfast this morning. Craig sent me a text at about 6:30 am asking me how the cereal was. This is the response I sent back:

Oh the pain!

Tara and I went to exercise club at the church yesterday. I've been going for some time now, but our instructor is having a baby soon, so Sis. Davis took over. "Wow!" That's pretty much all I can say. I am stiff and sore in every muscle of my body. Muscles I didn't even know that I had are screaming at me today. If I take a deep breath, yawn, or cough, it kills my chest. Going up and down the stairs is torture. Plus, we have to keep a food journal! Aack!!! I told Tara it will be interesting to see how long we can go before we start lying in our food journals. =) I know if I can stick with it I'll be happy with the results. The hardest part is going to be getting through the next couple of days. Wish me luck!

By the way, I STILL have 2 spots available on my Pay it Forward post! Really...I'm starting to get a complex here. Is it that you don't think I can make anything crafty, or is it that you just don't want to play? At least comment and let me know which one it is! Love to you all!
